This article will walk you through the steps to create a UPI payment link and collect payments through it easily.

India’s shift from a cash-driven economy to a digital cashless one has generated the requirement for a hassle-free and straightforward medium for digital or cashless payments for all types of businesses. Companies that were receiving payments through cash can now manage and receive digital payments just like an online store. However, many small merchants lack the required technical know-how to create an online store and receive digital payments. The easiest path to do the same without any investment or developer resources is to create UPI payment link via PayU.

PayU India’s UPI payment links empower us to get payments remotely for the services and goods we provide to our customers. We can create a UPI payment link and the description of the products and services and send it to the consumers through SMS, Whatsapp, or email and collect the payment.

UPI payment links are a no-code payment tool by which we can start collecting payments in minutes. Some UPI applications for which payment links can be created using PayU India are Bhim UPI and WhatsApp.

We can also use UPI payment link APIs to create UPI payment links. Consumers can pay through their preferred payment methods, and there are various supported payment methods like UPI, net banking, debit cards, wallets, credit cards, etc.

Payment links connect to the organization’s ecosystem and are compatible with offline and online businesses. Some of the use cases where the payment link can be useful are:

  1. Small businesses: Merchants that do not have a website or an app can use UPI payment links, the easiest and best way to start receiving online payments.
  2. Social media trade: Nowadays, various companies run their businesses through Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. These merchants can easily share UPI payment links with their consumers for a quick payment option.
  3. Utility services: Utility service providers can collect payments like electricity bills, telephone bills, insurance premiums, gas bills and so on using payment links.
  4. EMI collections: Insurance agents and non-banking financial corporations (NBFCs) can use payment links to receive systematic investment plan (SIP) instalments, loan instalments, credit card bills, and so on from their customers.
  5. Customized payments: Businesses can use payment links to propose special discounts to their customers for bulk purchases and can also use payment links for services like warranty, customised packaging, and so on.

How to Create UPI Payment Links

Merchants can create and send UPI payment links to customers to receive payments using UPI applications. For the UPI payment link generator, we first require adding the products and the consumer details. Following this, UPI payment links will be generated, which can be shared through SMS, Whatsapp, email, and so on. Customers can make payments by clicking on the link and selecting a UPI app from the various UPI apps installed on their mobile. A maximum amount of Rs.1 lakh can be sent or received using a UPI payment link.
