PayU enables its merchants to create an online gift card store for their customers. The store comes with a payment gateway integration and custom design templates. Customers can buy gift cards from the merchants' gift card store for self or their family, friends and employees.
PayU is a technology service provider and we only issue gift cards on behalf of our merchants for their customers.
The eligibility criteria for a business to open a gift card store with PayU is KYC documentation and bank account verification.
No, these gift cards will be merchant offered gift cards powered by PayU technology.
The gift cards are digital only. On purchasing a gift card, the customer is delivered a Gift Card electronically

If you are new to PayU, you will need to complete your KYC documentation and verify your bank account details so that you start receiving settlements of your sales.

You will receive a unique webpage for your customers to purchase gift cards. This will be pre-configured with PayU Payment Gateway.
Yes, we will have payment gateway integrated with payment options such as credit card, debit card, UPI, wallets and more.
We will not charge anything for setting up the gift card store. You will be charged only when a gift card is purchased by your customers.
We have a special introductory price where setup for platform is free and per issuance of gift card will be charged at 1% of total value of the gift card. GST will be as applicable in addition to this. You will be charged with payment gateway fee over and above issuance charges which are provided here.
Once you have provided KYC and bank details, post validation, you will receive money for the gift cards issued within seven days of issuance.
You currently cannot issue bulk gift cards online but please contact us with your requirement and we can provide help for the same.
You can login into your PayU dashboard, click on gift card section to see details about your gift cards. You will also see all your transactions on the dashboard.

You currently have two ways to redeem the gift card – Using Web or PayU Mobile app on android
You can collect balance payment (if any) using any of the payment modes you offer and/or customer prefers
We currently do not support gift card redemption on online channels. We will soon offer the same using our Payment gateway integration either using our payment page or using APIs that can be integrated by you.
Yes, you can use our payment gateway services and other features we offer.
Please check if there is sufficient network coverage and verify if mobile number being used is same as registered mobile number for gift card. If customer doesn’t receive the OTP despite adequate coverage, please wait for some time and then re-try. This usually happens due to fluctuation at telecom service provider.
Our system will facilitate redemption of gift cards for customer. Over and above that, you are free to use any other mode of payment for remaining value of the transaction.
You currently cannot run any discounts for gift card issuance but can provide offers and discounts to your customer at point of sale/redemption using your existing systems and processes.

Upon successful completion of the transaction, a confirmation of your purchase will be displayed on your screen. The gift card will be delivered to the recipient via email and SMS

No, we currently support only Indian mobile numbers for recipient.
The gift card will be valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Currently, you can purchase only one gift card at a time.
Yes, you can buy gift card for yourself.
No. You will receive a digital gift card. We currently do not issue physical cards.
The validity of a gift card is 12 months from the date of purchase. If you do not use it before the expiry, the gift card will be null and void.
On purchasing the gift card, you will receive a message stating the balance on the card. After each redemption, you will receive an updated message containing the balance. If you are unable to locate the message, you can contact your merchant to provide you with the balance on the card by providing required card details.
You can redeem your gift card with the merchant who issued the gift card. You can walk into the merchant’s establishment or contact them for alternatives for the redemption.
In order to redeem your gift card balance, you can walk into the merchant location or contact your merchant. They will assist you with redemption of the gift card at the time of sale of product or service. You will need to share the OTP received on your mobile phone number to authenticate the transaction.
Please ensure that the mobile number being used is same as registered mobile number at the time of purchase of gift card. If you still do not receive the OTP, check for any cellular network issue or try after some time.
OTP will be sent only to the mobile number registered at the time of the purchase. This number cannot be changed for security reasons.
You can redeem the gift card using both your card number or mobile number. Please provide your registered mobile number to the merchant and you will be able to redeem the gift card after validating the OTP sent on it.
You can use your gift card as many times as you prefer until your card’s balance is exhausted or your card expires.
You can combine your gift card balance with other modes of payment accepted by the merchant. Please note this will be at the discretion of the merchant whether he accepts other modes of payment.
No, currently, you cannot load more money into your gift card.
No, gift card does not allow refunds or cancellation of transaction. However, you can check with the merchant if they have any other means available for refunds or credit note for the given purchase.
Please check if your gift card is expired or balance is exhausted. Merchant must accept the gift card if you have balance and is within expiry. In case merchant is facing technical challenge, please try using again when merchant is able to redeem.
Please check this with your merchant if they have an option to redeem the gift cards online or any other ways to redeem it.
No, we do not support offline redemption at this time. You will have to discuss with the merchant about other possible ways to redeem the gift or wait till the power/internet is back.
We do not provide any additional discount for using gift card. If merchant wants to provide any additional discounts or offers, the same will be at merchant's discretion at the time of redemption.
You can block your gift card by raising a request using help section on our website. Rest assured, no one can use your gift card balance without OTP authentication through your registered mobile number.
