MSMEs are classified in terms of their investments and annual turnovers (refer to the table below). The government of India has made MSME registration mandatory to bring more businesses into the formal sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Investment<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Annual turnover<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Classification<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&lt; Rs. 1 crore<\/td><td>Up to Rs. 5 crores<\/td><td>Micro enterprises<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&lt; Rs. 10 crores<\/td><td>Up to Rs. 50 crores<\/td><td>Small enterprises<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&lt; Rs. 20 crores<\/td><td>Up to Rs. 100 crores<\/td><td>Medium enterprises<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits of MSME registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Registering your business can fetch numerous benefits. Some of these are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Get bank loans at the lowest interest rates (around 1-1.5% lower) with ease<\/li><li>Avail of <a href=\"https:\/\/payu.in\/blog\/8-tax-tips-for-small-businesses\/\">tax benefits<\/a> by taking credit for MAT (minimum alternate tax) for up to 15 years<\/li><li>Concessions &amp; rebates on setting up an industry or getting patents<\/li><li>Reimburse ISO Certification fees<\/li><li>Registered MSMEs get preference for government tenders<\/li><li>State governments support MSMEs<\/li><li>Leverage government schemes like Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Schemes, Credit Guarantee Schemes, etc.<\/li><li>Get priority sector loans from banks<\/li><li>Avail of bar code registration subsidy<\/li><li>Concession on MSME electricity bill<\/li><li>Special consideration for International Trade fairs<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to register your MSME online<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2022 MSME online registration process for new businesses or those with EM-II<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can register your MSME on the Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) portal. Here\u2019s how to apply for MSME Udyam registration online:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/udyamregistration.gov.in\/\">MSME Udyam registration web portal<\/a>.<\/li><li>For new or unregistered businesses, click on the first link \u2013 \u201cFor new entrepreneurs who are not registered yet as MSME or those with EM-II\u201d.<\/li><li>Submit your Aadhaar Number and name.<\/li><li>Then tick the consent button and click on the \u2018Validate &amp; Generate OTP\u2019 button.<\/li><li>On the next page, submit details of your PAN and organization type. If you don\u2019t have PAN, select the \u2018No\u2019 option.<\/li><li>Fill in the rest of the fields on the form.<\/li><li>Enter the OTP received on your phone number and verification code to submit the form.<\/li><li>On successful registration, a \u201cThank You\u201d message will appear with your registration number.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>It may take 2-3 days to get approval for your MSME\u2019s registration. On approval, you will receive a registration certificate via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2022 MSME online registration process for businesses with UAM<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Visit the govt portal (<a href=\"https:\/\/udyamregistration.gov.in\/\">UAM portal<\/a>).<\/li><li>For UAM-registered businesses, click on the respective link to access the migration form.<\/li><li>On the next page, enter your Udyog Aadhaar number, select an OTP option and click on the \u2018Validate &amp; Generate OTP\u2019 button.<\/li><li>Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number or email ID.<\/li><li>Fill in the MSME Udyam registration form and submit it.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>It may take 2-3 days to get approval for your MSME\u2019s registration migration. On approval, you will receive a registration certificate via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MSME registration fees and documents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The MSME registration process does not require extensive documentation. All you need is your Aadhaar number. Details related to your PAN- and GST- linked investments and turnover will be automatically sourced from government databases. You also do not need to pay any fees to get your MSME registered through the Udyam portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to download the MSME registration certificate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your MSME is successfully registered, you will receive a permanent registration number and an e-certificate. The MSME registration certificate requires no renewals as it has lifetime validity unless you get it canceled. It features a dynamic QR code linked to the Udyam portal, where you can access details regarding your enterprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check your inbox and spam folder to see if you have received the certificate. But if at any point you need to download the certificate, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/udyamregistration.gov.in\/Government-India\/Ministry-MSME-registration.htm\">Udyam Registration portal<\/a>.<\/li><li>Go to the \u201cPrint\/Verify\u201d drop-down button on the top menu bar.<\/li><li>Click on \u201cPrint Udyam Certificate\u201d. This will take you to a login page if you aren\u2019t already logged in.<\/li><li>Here, enter your Udyam registration and registered mobile numbers.<\/li><li>Choose the preferred option in the third field and press \u201cValidate &amp; Generate OTP\u201d.<\/li><li>Enter the OPT you received in the next field and press \u201cValidate OTP and Login\u201d.<\/li><li>You will see your Udyam Certificate on the next page.
